Within The Public Service delivery department, the Asset Management division is responsible for operating and maintaining safe, quality and sustainable working environments and to ensure the efficient operation and good stewardship of government buildings and assets. The department is currently looking for a highly motivated Buyer to work at the Operations - District one division.

Qualifications:


Essential:


• Experience with a computerized purchasing and inventory system (preferably SAP)
• Experience working with equipment manufacturer catalogues and manuals.
• Proven work related experience with requisitioning and purchasing materials and services.
• Excellent interpersonal with the ability to deal effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to complete assignments and meet deadlines.
• Strong written communication skills to draft, format, edit and proofread correspondence and reports.
• Strong verbal communication skills to communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience using Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and Outlook.


Duties:


The buyer is responsible for the procurement of goods and services used in the district operations. This includes materials research, procurement of estimates, combined with a good understanding of our business to ensure appropriate materials procured at the most economical cost. The incumbent is responsible for purchases of goods under sustainable guidelines, such as Janitorial, Plumbing, Electrical, Technical Controls, Mechanical, Carpentry, Painting and office materials using the SAP Plant Maintenance System. Also obtains price quotes ensuring that Government sustainability guidelines are adhered to via e-mail or telephone and allocate wisest transaction in regard to quality, price, warranty, special discounts, delivery date, etc.
