Position Summary

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Buyer will control the implementation of strategic procurement initiatives by managing MRP demand information in conjunction with assigned purchasing and inventory control responsibilities. This to include packaging, raw materials and indirect procurement as assigned.

This position is in Strathroy, Ontario, one of two sites located in Canada offering softgel development and manufacturing capabilities for the Pharmaceutical and Consumer Health industries. We have a broad range of integrated formulation, manufacturing, analytical and packaging services to offer full-service turnkey solutions.

Shift: Onsite - Regular working hours: 8:00 AM \xe2\x80\x93 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM \xe2\x80\x93 5:00 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.

The Role

• Review and analyze daily MRP data for Raw material or Packaging Component and Indirect requirements, managing purchase cost, procurement projects and inventory value considerations.
• Liaise with internal customers to explore and identify opportunities for value-addition.
• Reporting savings and process improvement throughout the organization.
• Proactive development of competitive sourcing opportunities in all areas of assigned responsibilities (materials, equipment, supplies, etc.). Perform cost and value analysis to support purchase recommendations/decisions. Ensure Vendor Quality compliance/requirements are achieved.
• Contribute to the strategic development of supply base management and company initiatives as required. Resolve customs issues as required.
• Issuance, maintenance and follow up of purchase orders and MRP item master input and maintenance.
• Reactively respond to fluctuations/dynamics from both external and internal material demands and availabilities (i.e. market supply issues, material availability disruption, contaminated materials, etc.).
• Must be able to work extended hours, weekends as needed, especially when problems occur or when deadlines must be met.
• Perform other duties as required.

The Candidate

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in business, Finance, Engineering or Supply Chain Management.
• 3-5 years of experience in Procurement or related field.
• Experience working in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical and/or GMP facility.
• Experience in RFP procedures, quote analysis, PO issuance and contract management.
• While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. Use of manual dexterity is required. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, bend or twist, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
