We are seeking a Buyer / Production Planner who will play a key role in coordinating purchasing and inventory management to ensure lead times are met.
General Description
The Buyer / Production Planner is responsible for processing purchasing transactions, creating work orders, and optimizing inventory levels. This position works closely with suppliers, production, and sales to meet customer demands and costs.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Supplier Coordination
Consult with suppliers, review quotations, and negotiate pricing and contract terms.
Establish delivery schedules to meet production and customer requirements.
Prepare and issue purchase orders for raw materials and finished goods.
Review and update standard costs based on recent purchases; communicate changes to relevant departments.
Investigate quality and warranty claims and work with vendors on credits, corrective actions, and product improvements.
Production Planning
Review orders for accuracy as they enter material planning.
Notify technical or sales departments of part number or specification discrepancies.
Prepare and release production work orders.
Optimize raw material usage to reduce waste and cost.
Address issues related to lead times, shortages, and delivery delays.
Inventory Management & Continuous Improvement
Conduct inventory cycle counts.
Monitor and maintain stock levels for raw materials and finished goods.
Detect and resolve inventory discrepancies in coordination with production and shipping.
Participate in and support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives in the shop.
Contribute to improving workflow, reducing waste, and enhancing production efficiency.
Qualifications
2-5 years of experience in purchasing and inventory management (manufacturing experience preferred).
Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel
Excellent attention to detail and organization skills.
Demonstrates strong knowledge of supply chain management principles.
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

We are located in Vineland Station, Ontario. This is just outside St. Catharines. This position requires you to be in the office each day 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
