Position Summary


The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials (from overseas) to support manufacturing operations. This role ensures that purchases are cost-effective, delivered on time, and meet quality standards, while maintaining strong supplier relationships and supporting production schedules. The ideal candidate has a strong background in material management, Master Production Scheduling (MPS), and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems, ensuring timely and cost-effective supply of materials that meet production schedules and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

Execute daily purchasing activities to support production and inventory requirements. Analyze and maintain MPS/MRP data to ensure accurate material planning and replenishment. Source, negotiate, and manage suppliers to ensure on-time delivery, quality, and cost objectives. Collaborate closely with production, planning, and logistics teams to align material availability with demand. Maintain accurate purchase order records, supplier data, and lead-time information in ERP/MRP systems. Monitor inventory levels and adjust purchasing strategies to minimize excess and obsolescence. Support new product introductions (NPI) by sourcing materials and components in alignment with project timelines. Resolve supplier performance issues and implement corrective actions as required. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain. Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and ethical standards.

Qualifications

Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing purchasing or material management role. Experienced with sourcing and procuring from overseas. Strong working knowledge of ERP systems (preferable Sage X3). Proven ability to interpret and act on production schedules, bills of material (BOMs), and demand forecasts. Solid negotiation, communication, and supplier relationship management skills. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced in Excel.
