Job Description

Seeking a Buyer to expand our Operations Team. The Buyer is responsible for developing the bill of materials, costing, purchasing materials for orders, sourcing and procurement of goods and services in support of obtaining the best value for the company. The Buyer promotes and maintains positive internal and supplier relationships and is the primary point of contact for all suppliers.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Generates accurate bills of material for the product, by obtaining costing data from finance and product information from operations, creates & enters bill of materials into the Navision system, monitors the system for accuracy and changes

• Implements and improves buying strategies for materials, identifies, researches, and resolves problems whenever needed

• Creates and follows up on all purchase orders to ensure material availability, communicates information regarding purchase orders and delivery to Customer Service and Production in a timely manner

• Replenishes inventory and maintains optimum inventory levels of materials based on Production requirements, coordinates the logistics of materials, and finished goods to/from the facility, monitor the system for accuracy and changes

• Reviews and develops reports to track supplier performance and metrics for management

• Maintains supplier information, price lists, and contact information, manages supplier cost, quality, and delivery performance, act as main contact for suppliers for the company, ensures all negotiated supplier contracts and terms are being followed, builds business case for future projects (feasibility study), sources and evaluates new suppliers for goods and services

• Communicates information regarding purchase orders and delivery to Customer Service and Production in a timely and professional manner

• Responsible for monitoring the master schedule to maximize utilization of resources, such as labour, tools, materials, and facility capacity, maintains scheduling accuracy rates

• Expedites operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions

• Ensures all stakeholders are fully briefed on production status, prepares metrics and reports management, initiates replacement orders for lost, damaged or discrepant items

• Continuous improvement activities related to procurement, supply chain, production planning, and logistics

Job Specifications-Skills and Competencies:

• Minimum 1-3 years of experience in Supply Chain, Business, or related field

• Experience within food & beverage, and/or consumer packaged goods industry highly preferred

• Experience in stock management, production models and planning techniques

• Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment
