VG Group is looking for a Butcher/Meat Cutter in Stoney Creek, ON!
We are looking to hire a person interested in meat cutting and butchery, with or without experience. We have professionally prepared display counts that can challenge top butchers or if you are new to the trade we can train with you to gain skill. The organization is a big believer in developing individuals to their full potential. Holistic Management principles are what guide us on a path towards regenerative outcomes. As you develop your skills you will get more and more exposure across all the business units to further enrich your learning.
Hours:
44 to 48 hours per week
The Development Steps
Experienced cutters coming in can challenge the levels:
Junior Butcher (LVL 1 - $15.80 to $18)
Knowing your retail cuts, understanding how to fabricate the cuts, and supporting the superior butchers while gaining knife skills.
Customer service & engagement
Intermediate Butcher (lvl 2 - $18 to $20)
Comprehensive knowledge of Retail & Food Service/Restaurant level cuts and how some of the prepared items are made.
Ability to identify basic, secondary and tertiary Lamb, Duck, Turkey & Game cuts/parts
Ability to cut and breakdown beef, pork, lamb, chicken/turkey into retail cuts from semi primal cuts.
Expert Butcher (LVL 3 - $20 to $24 upon successful completion of cutting skills assessment)
Advanced knowledge of Meat Department operations for a retail location (inventory ordering, supply sustainment, advanced sanitation, training & development of Staff)
Expert/Advanced butchery skills and knowledge, must exhibit current knowledge of industry trends and can incorporate into offerings to our customers in a friendly and inviting manner
Must exhibit advanced/expert knowledge of Fresh Meat/Prepared RTE food Merchandising as well as excel at customer service & engagement
Confidence in the ability to train team members and manage full-service meat counter without supervision
All level upgrades are confirmed with a skill assessment.
