Our butcher shop has several openings available for people with a passion for preparing meats. The butcher is responsible for creating new recipes, preparing meats according to those recipes, and ensuring that the meats comply with all safety parameters. The ideal candidate will have a mechanical aptitude for detail-oriented work and an excellent command of knife skills. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cut, trim, and prepare standard cuts of products using knives, slicers, power cutters, and band saws for further processing or packaging.
Grind meat and slice fresh or frozen meat using powered grinders and slicing machines.
Ensure proper storage rules are followed for all products.
Maintain all the logs according to standard operation procedures.
Follow machine operation procedures and ensure all cleanings are done properly as per the standard operation procedures.
Maintain a safe and clean environment, observing all food safety rules, regulations and company standards
Communicate courteously and effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
Identify various species and meat cuts when segregating and selecting.
Should be working in a Hygienic working environment
Employment requirements
A minimum of 2 years experience of a butcher is required. Applicant will need to demonstrate their skills.
Must be able to communicate in English (spoken and written)
Must have knowledge on how to prepare and cook various types of cuts (primarily North American standards) to advise customers
Must be able to lift 50lbs.
Must be confident using heavy machinery and sharp tools.
Must be able to work full time (8 hours a day) with occasional 10-hour days
Must be able to commit to Etobicoke
Must be able to commit at least 6 months
Must be able to communicate with customers
Should make Friendly environment
Must speak English Fluently
Must clean area after work
