JOB DESCRIPTION
Canopy is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to join the Operations team for a one-year role focused on designing and implementing core business systems essential to achieve its mission at a greater scale, improve collaboration across staff, and track our impacts in transforming wood-based supply chains.
The role will focus on operationalizing a Salesforce overhaul, improving how information is organized and accessed across the organization, and supporting staff adoption of new systems and ways of working. The Business Systems Analyst will work closely with Operations, Impact teams, Development, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL), IT support, and external partners to ensure systems are fit for purpose, intuitive, and scalable.
This role is well suited to someone motivated to create socioenvironmental impact, loves data, brings strong systems judgment, enjoys hands-on delivery, and understands how early implementation and enablement choices shape long-term usability and data quality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the rollout and adoption of a redesigned Salesforce used by Programs and Development teams.
Coordinate data readiness, migration, and integrations related to Salesforce and other operational systems.
Lead improvements to document storage, archiving, and information organization, including supporting the implementation of a knowledge base.
Support data quality and reporting in partnership with Operations leadership and MEL.
Develop documentation, guidance, and training materials to support effective system use and handoff.
QUALIFICATIONS
This role is best suited to candidates with 1-2 years of experience working with business systems, data, or operational tools in a hands-on capacity
Candidates may meet the qualifications for this role through a combination of business systems analysis, implementation, or administration experience, or through closely related operational, data, or systems-support experience.
Core Capabilities
Exposure to administration of business systems (CRM, ERP, HRIS, accounting, marketing, or service platforms), including configuration, automation, and reporting.
Strong data management skills, including imports/exports, formatting, deduplication, field mapping, cleanup, reconciliation, and basic spreadsheet formulas
Experience working with role- and permission-based access models (e.g., roles, permission sets, profiles), and the ability to follow established change control and UAT processes.
Ability to translate identified organizational needs into practical system updates, and to provide clear documentation and basic user support.
Ability to maintain a high degree of discretion in all aspects of the job.
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain a calm and professional attitude under pressure or shifting priorities.
Sound judgment and the ability to solve non-routine problems independently.
Ability to work collaboratively and independently, while supporting staff with diverse levels of technical comfort.

Related or Transferable experience
Hands-on experience with CRM or marketing tools, including the ability to make practical updates, manage user access, support data quality, and assist with workflows and reporting under guidance.
Experience supporting process documentation, gathering user input, and assisting with testing system updates.
Experience supporting data quality through routine updates, basic cleanup, and maintaining existing reports or dashboards.

Experience supporting nonprofit data systems, including routine donor or program data updates and basic reporting.
Direct Salesforce configuration experience, including Objects, Fields, Flows, Validation Rules, and Reports/Dashboards.
Salesforce certifications (Admin, Advanced Admin, Platform App Builder) or Trailhead Superbadges.
Experience with integrations (APIs, Mailchimp, Zapier/Make) or basic SOQL.
Experience with more advanced data management through use of SQL or R programming.
Knowledge of data governance or privacy/compliance considerations (e.g., GDPR, CPRA, PIPEDA) in a CRM context.
