The Opportunity

At Univeris, the Business Systems Analyst Intern solves organizational information problems and requirements by analyzing requirements; designing computer programs; recommending system controls and protocols.

The Role

  • Determines operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats.
  • Designs new computer programs by analyzing requirements; constructing workflow charts and diagrams; studying system capabilities; writing specifications.
  • Improves systems by studying current practices; designing modifications.
  • Recommends controls by identifying problems; writing improved procedures.
  • Defines project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases, and elements; forming a project team; establishing a project budget.
  • Monitors project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions.
  • Deal consulting and supporting business analysis for new deals, SOW template management
  • Story writing and requirements definition for stories in the sprint
  • Product requirements support and documentation
  • Spikes: research and technical analysis on certain design decisions

Educational Qualifications
  • Enrolment in a Bachelor's degree in a Business and Computer studies related program or Product Management and Computer /business studies
  • Completion of 3rd year of study, with a plan to return to school after the internship.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and must be enrolled in a co-op education program in Ontario that supports a 16-contiguous-month work term.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of hands-on Java development experience in a previous work setting or during the course of study
Desirables
  • Experience with J2EE, Spring, or/and API-centric applications
  • Experience with quality technologies: unit testing (JUnit, EasyMock, Mockito, etc), automation and integration testing
  • Experience working with open source libraries and projects
  • Working experience with Git/Maven in a continuous build, continuous deployment environment
  • Working experience with Agile software development process

Our location in downtown Toronto in a small office environment. At the time of this posting, employees at Univeris are working remotely from home.
