Under the direction of the Manager, Support Services, the successful candidate will collaborate with various business units within the Recreation and Culture Department to gather, analyze and interpret key business objectives and support a variety of initiatives. This position leads the department's strategy for Business Intelligence optimization, supporting and promoting continuous improvement opportunities. A priority for this position will also be supporting the operations, configuration, and training of Xplor Recreation software.

Job Responsibilities



Business Analysis and Consultation


Use appropriate business analysis techniques to gather detailed business and technical requirements to express the underlying needs of stakeholders so that business solutions can be developed and scope of projects understood by all parties involved. Consult with business stakeholders to review current business issues/challenges, identify options for potential solutions, perform gap analysis and assess them for both technical and business suitability.


Demonstrated attention to detail in gathering and documenting requirements, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Create and review departmental business processes to ensure alignment with organizational goals and continuous improvement initiatives.

Research, Reporting and Analysis


Lead the department's key performance indicators/metrics and reporting requirements, refining and maintaining department dashboards using Business Intelligence tools to help support the department in evidence-based decision making. Keep up to date with emerging trends and what other municipalities are doing to make operations more effective and efficient through the use of technology.

Budget and Project Management


Lead the department annual operating budget process, ensuring department staff have the necessary tools to complete required documents, monitor submission deadlines and support staff when necessary. Leads the annual updating of the Rates and Fees document. Coordinate various project initiatives within the department and act as a liaison between business units.

Qualifications




You bring expertise in business process design and optimization, with a strong focus on formal documentation and attention to detail. You have experience in training staff and supporting organizational learning initiatives.


You will have graduated from a recognized university or college with a degree/diploma in Business, Information Management or Business Analysis, or equivalent and bring at least 3 years of progressive business analysis experience, with preference in the Recreation and Culture sector. You strive for innovation and excellence and are capable of acting as a change agent. You have demonstrated experience in conducting work process designs and conducting business process reviews, advising on and supporting the implementation of new technologies. You are strategic in your approach to addressing complex issues and demonstrate accountability by ensuring the impact of strategies and programs is measured and shared widely. You encourage cross departmental thinking and collaboration, interpret individual and department concerns, anticipate issues and opportunities, take ownership, use initiative and remain solution focused.
