As a Business Strategist, you will provide comprehensive strategic planning expertise and project management support to Fleet and Inventory. In this position, you will ensure the business unit meets legislative and regulatory requirements, navigates complex and emerging issues, plans and manages priority projects, and advances continuous improvement initiatives. You will support divisional planning and performance, enabling Fleet and Inventory to deliver on its strategic mandate and identified One Calgary priorities. Primary duties include:

Develop strategies, plans, policies, and frameworks for priority business goals and objectives in collaboration with cross-functional teams within Fleet and Inventory and the Corporation. Facilitate discussions with senior leaders to plan for and respond to emerging business issues and strategic challenges. Lead or support strategic projects from initiation through to completion balancing constraints to achieve project and strategic objectives. Ensure projects are executed within scope, schedule, budget, and quality parameters. Develop incremental and sustainable improvements to business systems and processes to increase organizational efficiency and effectiveness, while enhancing innovation and adaptability of service delivery. Make strategic recommendations to senior leaders, identify opportunities and trends, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and realize efficiencies. Conduct financial research and analysis to support senior leaders to make informed decisions.


Qualifications

A degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Public Administration, Political Science, Social Sciences, or a related field. At least 5 years of experience in strategic planning, project management, business and process improvement, and business and financial analysis. Experience leading complex, cross-functional projects in a fast-paced, dynamic, and political environment, collaborating across diverse partner groups. An advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) is required. Experience with facilitation, business analysis, public policy and working knowledge of various analysis methodologies is preferred. Knowledge of green fleet technologies will be an asset. Knowledge and experience in business analytics, performance metrics and process improvement methodologies will be an asset. Experience with developing strategies and writing content and reports for senior leadership will also be an asset. Success in this position requires the following competencies: the ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team setting, demonstrated problem solving skills and a high attention to detail, well, developed interpersonal and communication skills, a strong customer focus, business and political acumen, and the ability to manage the implementation of business and strategic concepts.

Working Conditions:

Office environment, with visits to operational sites for information gathering on an as needed basis.

This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Compensation: Pay Grade 12 $47.01 - 62.84 per hour
Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day
work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
