Business Sales Manager

Under the direction of the Director, ATCOenergy, you will manage and energize a growing team of Energy Marketers. Specifically, your team will be responsible for finding the right products and services to solve the energy-related needs of our small and medium business owners. On a daily basis, you will be responsible for...

Leadership Excellence:

  • As a player/coach, you will be accountable for driving new customer acquisitions and margins. Goals will include ensuring that the team hits their individual and collective team goals established for profitable sales.
  • Provide daily support and coaching to the Energy Marketing Team, including: pricing and discount guidelines as well as hands on selling support with small and medium commercial customers.
  • Provide key account management support for a select list of customers.
  • Coach and provide support for sales team in the areas of: new account sales and growth, sales of emerging products and multi-product sales, profitability, improved presentation strategies, competitive strategies, proper use and level of sales support, management of expenses and business/financial issues on contracts.
Sales Strategy:
  • Collaborate with leadership to establish and recommend stretch sales goals for ATCOenergy as well as to develop sales strategies to improve market share across all business channels.
  • Establish process for driving sales growth across the previously untapped small commercial market.
  • Develop commission structures geared to support organizational objectives.
  • Establish strong partnerships with other ATCO business units (to maximize opportunities for business development.
  • Develop and support customer-centric policies and processes directed towards customer satisfaction and retention
  • Act as key account manager for large commercial customers, recommending appropriate commercial energy products such as load following, block, floating etc.
  • Presentations to C-suite executive
Product Development and Marketing:
  • Identify and recommend new products, industries, geographies, market segments, and take-to-market strategies to enhance sales opportunities.
  • Collaborate with marketing team to establish collateral to support sales objectives.
  • Manage involvement in critical industry associations, memberships, and trade shows in collaboration with Marketing.

  • Developing effective sales strategies
  • Leading and developing a team of Energy Marketers to deliver exceptional results.

What you have:
  • Undergrad degree in business, marketing, or related discipline
  • Experience leading sales teams in the Alberta deregulated competitive energy market (gas and electricity sales)
  • 7-10 years\' relevant and progressive experience in sales and sales management within a complex organization with a focus on a business to business (B2B) model
  • Strong understanding of Energy markets (products and regulations) specifically in the Alberta Electricity and Natural Gas market required
  • C&I sales experience - negotiating contracts, guiding sophisticated large commercial customers with market updates and product recommendations based on consumption and profile.
  • A proven track record of success in sales and sales management
  • Background experience in retail environments such as telecommunications, banking, insurance, and/or power an asset
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills to interpret sales performance and market trend information
  • Proven ability to motivate and lead a sales team
  • Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite as well as advanced knowledge of the customer relationship management (CRM) program SalesForce
  • Strong commercial and strategic acumen
