We are looking for a Business Resilience and Health and Safety Advisor to join BrokerLink and work out of our Glenmore, AB office on a Contract FT Basis.

The Business Resilience and Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for managing and maintaining the company\'s Business Continuity Plan as well as the Occupational Health & Safety Program ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, provincial and local regulations. This role will oversee, monitor and provide leadership and guidance to Directors, Leadership Team, Human Resources and employees across Canada on all Business Continuity and Occupational Health and Safety related matters.

What the Role Entails:
  • Work with BrokerLink\xe2\x80\x99s Leadership Team, Directors and different business units to update and maintain existing Business Continuity Plans on-line, with ParaSolutions software.
  • Update emergency preparedness policies, procedures, protocols.
  • Collaborate with Managers, Directors, and Leadership Team to manage and implement lessons learned to continuously improve upon existing BCP.
  • Document existing risk, procedures, threats, business impact, and help guide strategy selection.
  • Lead emergency preparedness exercises.
  • Develop emergency management plan for recovery decision making.
  • Strategize to keep identified critical functions on-going.
  • Work with cross-section of organization to communicate temporary shutdown of non-critical departments.
  • Work with BrokerLink\xe2\x80\x99s Leadership Team and Directors to implement and manage a first in class nationwide Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) program for over 140 offices across Canada.
  • Maintain knowledge and proficiency in current safety legislation and industry safety resources.
  • Maintain safety statistics including a comprehensive set of leading and lagging indicators for all BrokerLink\xe2\x80\x99s operations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve on existing and increase communication of Emergency Response Program ensuring that all staff are educated, trained, and prepared to respond to any incident.
  • Develop, implement, and review processes to ensure branch level compliance to policies, standards, regulatory requirements and ensure mitigation of risks.
  • Log all on-site materials at all branches, including First Aid kits, AED\xe2\x80\x99s, etc. and manage the continuous refilling and compliance of each.
  • Initiate the implementation of OH&S committees at larger branches and flagships.
  • Manage list of current Health and Safety certified/trained staff across company
  • Assess opportunities and threats to recommend appropriate plans to improve the operational effectiveness of OH&S across company.
  • Ensure all applicable government agencies, industry associations, and/or law enforcement are notified, depending on the type and severity of an incident.
  • Review existing OH&S program policies and procedures, update as required.
The Successful candidate will have:

  • 3+ years working in a national organization with multiple locations
  • 3+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in BCP and/or OH&S
  • Insurance industry experience considered an asset
  • Related post-secondary Health & Safety degrees, diplomas and certifications are considered an asset
  • Knowledge of OH&S legislation and standards
  • Exceptional admin skills with project management planning and execution
  • Goal-oriented and capable of meeting deadlines
  • Highly organized with excellent analytical, integration and project management skills
  • Understanding of provincial accessibility legislation and standards
  • Demonstrated time management and self-motivation skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-focused skills
  • Strong computer skills including experience working remotely, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
