Under the direction and guidance of the Associate Director Business Intelligence and Analytics, the Business Intelligence Analyst II - External Intelligence Analyst is responsible for delivering the External Data Intelligence Reporting and Analytics for the college, which includes but is not limited to:

  • Publishes and produces External data analysis and research to understand the colleges complex and diverse external environment. Including but not limited to:
o Labor Market Research and Analysis
o Marketing analysis and research to support SEM activities
o Lead support for Qualitative Research studies at the college.
o Information for Academic Division to support program planning and development.
o Supporting data requirements for strategic initiatives and direction * Prepares data models and builds analytics reports and uses best practices in processes to translate business needs for technical requirements which includes creating and maintaining data models and design standards and recommendations for standardization and proper data usage.
  • Leads and manages Qualitative Reporting Projects and requests.
  • Prepares analysis ensuring high quality, accuracy and relevancy of the data and information being produced using best practices in Qualitative analytics and ensuring ethical standards in reporting and analysis. In addition is responsible to provide best practices to the college community as a specialized resource.
  • Development of processes and procedures for the team in terms of report development, creation, and life cycle.
  • Responsible for preparing methodology documentation and processes for assigned work.
  • Applies statistical modelling techniques where appropriate to ensure the statistical relevance of the data being used. Responsible for producing high-quality reports and analytics.
  • Monitors data extraction and performs data mart/warehouse maintenance; undertake data validation and cleaning processes; maintain integrity of data in data mart/warehouse and other datasets. Works with team members to ensure compliance and reviews work appropriately and makes recommendations for best practices.
  • Acts as a technical resource and works with ITS and Data Owners for improvements in overall structure of external data sets including Data marts, Warehouses, and data infrastructure to improve report and analytic performance.
  • Responsible for managing all assigned ad hoc reporting and assignments (including charts, graphs, tables, and narrative contents).
  • Finalizes any data pulls and extractions and performs quality checks as appropriate to ensure quality and consistency in data reporting, intelligence, and analytics.
  • Working with Associate Director of Business Intelligence works to support and oversee data retention, deletion, stewardship, and governance of reports produced.
  • Responsible for PowerBI App maintenance and ensuring appropriate governance and workspace set up.
  • Prepares and finalizes reports conclusions and analysis of recommendations, conclusions and provides high level analysis of the information contained in the report to senior leaders. Projects that are large in scope and complexity and have a broader college impact would then be referred to the Associate Director of Business Intelligence.
  • Research best practices and techniques in terms of Intelligence and Analytics in relation to the PSI environment including measures, metrics, key benchmarks, and intelligence reporting. In addition, responsible for working with the Intelligence community at the college and ITS in terms of software enhancements within PowerBI.
  • Responsible for mentoring and training of report consumers for adoption.
  • Responsible for the production and annual schedule for college and government required surveys. In addition, will work with the Associate Director and Business Stakeholders on Survey deployment at the college and ensures that all compliance reporting is completed within the appropriate timelines. Manages the relationship with external Market Research firms as required for all technical pieces of survey deployment.
  • Will be responsible for building out reporting measures, metrics and analytics within the collegexe2x80x99s approved qualitative data platform.
  • Supports the Academic, Strategic Enrolment Management for New Program Planning initiatives that require external sources data and labor market trends and analysis.
  • Reviews and ensure compliance with the professional, ethical, legal and legislative requirements of the various functions and staff within the unit.
  • Provides methods for completing work and provides instructions on the application of policies, processes and procedures or situations that deviate from the norm.
Qualifications
  • Bachelorxe2x80x99s degree with course work in a related field (data analysis, business analysis, statistics).
3 years of relevant experience * High proficiency in Excel; proficiency in a business analytics tool (Power BI preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • 3 years of relevant experience within a post-secondary environment
  • Previous leadership and supervision of technical work
  • Statistical and Business analysis skills
  • Ability to work in a relational database environment.
  • Experience in research.
  • Technical skills for data manipulation and interpretation and preparation of analysis and reports.
  • SQL, PowerBI, data modelling, SPSS experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
