As we expand our Chemistry & Phytochemical Services division, we are seeking a
Business Development Scientist
to lead the acquisition of new clients, drive revenue growth, and bridge the gap between scientific innovation and business strategy.
Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the Business Development Scientist will take a leading role in advancing ARSI's market presence through strategic client engagement, scientific communication, and business growth. This is an ideal role for a scientifically trained professional with a passion for commercialization, sales strategy, and client relationship management.
The position offers flexible scheduling (including remote/hybrid options), a competitive base salary, and performance-based incentives, making it attractive for candidates looking to combine scientific expertise with business development.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Strategic Growth
Identify and secure new business opportunities within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and chemical services sectors.
Develop and execute strategies to grow ARSI's market share and service offerings.
Drive top-line revenue by building a pipeline of qualified leads and converting them into long-term clients.
Scientific Communication & Proposal Development
Leverage technical knowledge to clearly communicate ARSI's capabilities to clients.
Collaborate with scientific teams to prepare customized proposals, research outlines, and project pitches.
Client Relationship Management
Act as the key liaison for new clients.
Cultivate strong, long-term partnerships to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
Market Intelligence & Competitive Analysis
Conduct detailed market research to understand client needs, trends, and gaps in the marketplace.
Use findings to inform strategy, positioning, and value proposition development.
Revenue Tracking & Performance Reporting
Meet or exceed revenue and new client acquisition targets.
Provide regular updates on sales metrics, forecasting, and strategic objectives.
Industry Engagement & Networking
Represent ARSI at conferences, trade shows, and other industry events.
Build and maintain a professional network to promote brand visibility and uncover new leads.
Compensation
Base Salary:
$85,000 CAD/year (contingent upon revenue generation and new client acquisition)
Performance Incentives:
Commission on new contracts and tiered bonuses for exceeding sales targets
Work Schedule:
Flexible hours (20-35 hrs/week) with remote/hybrid work arrangements
Qualifications
BSc, MSc, or PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field
Demonstrated interest or experience in business development, scientific sales, or client engagement
Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
Ability to understand and communicate complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Entrepreneurial mindset with results-driven approach
