We are seeking a
Business Development Manager
to help grow our fee-for-service revenue, expand strategic partnerships, and increase our impact across Ontario and beyond. This role is not just about closing deals; it's about building relationships and opportunities that strengthen our ecosystem and enable entrepreneurs to thrive for the long term. The revenue you generate will directly fuel programs and services that accelerate business success for innovators.
This position begins as a
12-month contract
, with the potential to transition into a
full-time permanent role
based on performance and organizational needs.
Responsibilities
1. Strategic Revenue Growth
Develop and execute business development plans to achieve revenue goals.
Identify, qualify, and engage potential clients through outreach, networking, and events.
Build and maintain strong relationships with decision-makers and partners.
Negotiate and manage partnership agreements that deliver mutual value.
2. Partnership Development & Funding
Cultivate corporate, public, and community partnerships that drive impact and open funding pathways.
Collaborate with industry associations and government agencies to design growth initiatives.
Maintain regular communication and reporting to demonstrate partner value.
3. Client Engagement & Service Delivery
Manage the full business development cycle from prospecting to closing.
Maintain an active sales pipeline and ensure timely follow-ups.
Work with program teams to tailor services to client needs.
Ensure client satisfaction through proactive communication and problem-solving.
4. Market Intelligence & Reporting
Track industry trends, competitor activity, and new opportunities.
Report on pipeline, partnerships, and outcomes to leadership.
Identify new funding programs and partnership opportunities aligned with our mission.
Skills
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 3-5 years in business development, partnerships, or sales, ideally in innovation, technology, or high-growth ecosystems.
Proven track record of revenue generation and partnership building.
Excellent communication skills with proven abilities to probe and uncover client challenges and pain points.
Demonstrable abilities to build, manage, and execute sales campaigns.
Strong presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g. HubSpot, Salesforce).
Preferred:
Experience in an accelerator, incubator, or innovation-driven organization.
Established network in cleantech, agri-innovation, advanced manufacturing, AI, or circular economy sectors.
