Position Overview
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving new business growth and expanding existing customer relationships within the transportation and logistics sector. This role works closely with operations and senior management to develop new accounts, support customer onboarding, and contribute to the company's long-term growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and pursue new business opportunities within transportation, logistics, and related services
Develop, manage, and maintain relationships with shippers, brokers, and strategic partners
Generate new leads through outbound outreach, networking, referrals, and market research
Present company services, prepare proposals, and negotiate commercial terms
Support onboarding of new customers and ensure a smooth transition to operations
Maintain accurate records of leads, opportunities, and customer interactions
Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity
Collaborate with management on strategic growth initiatives
Meet or exceed agreed business development and revenue targets
Qualifications and Skills
Previous experience in business development, sales, or logistics is preferred
Understanding of transportation, trucking, or logistics services is an asset
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, results-oriented approach
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team
Well-organized, self-motivated, and goal-driven
Comfortable using email, spreadsheets, and CRM or tracking tools
