This position will report to our VP Business Development and lead implementation of business plan objectives, specifically growth objectives focused on expanding Kiewit's Industrial and Power client base.

District Overview

Kiewit Energy was established to better serve the diverse and expanding energy market. Kiewit Energy provides cohesive engineering, procurement and construction services to the oil, gas, refining, chemicals, petrochemicals, biofuels, industrial, mining, and other process industries. Early Contract Involvement presence offers clients long-term relationships, providing integrated schedules, realistic construction estimates, and construction driven execution planning.

Location

This position is based out of Burnaby, British Columbia. This is a shared service environment in a professional office setting.

Responsibilities

The Business Development Manager will grow revenue within the region by developing and executing strategies, processes and best practices to obtain attractive opportunities that fit Kiewit operations, resources and financial objectives. He/she will lead in sales efforts by building long-term client relationships, specific opportunity pursuit, and Internal Kiewit sales alignment. Specifically, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for:

  • Participating and collaborating as member of a team of four BD Professionals across Canada who are focusing on the developing and winning business engineering and construction opportunities in the energy and industrial markets
  • New client acquisition and key account management with the Kiewit defined market defined as Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, Industrial, and Mining
  • Coordinating client interactions, communications, prequalification, proposals and presentations
  • Strengthening relationships by utilizing technical knowledge within industry organizations and events, engaging key stakeholders, and when offering clients the most innovative solutions
  • Communicating and promoting Kiewit's culture and brand creating awareness of our ability to stand out as an innovative and reliable industry leader across defined markets
  • Facilitating meetings with clients to understand client's organization and challenges, and provide customized solutions, communicating key competitive advantages in Kiewit Design Build offering
  • Aligning internal stakeholders by communicating and involving operational and executive level Kiewit leaders toward successful client meetings, win strategies and capture plan execution
  • Directing the pursuit team in development of white papers, capture plans and Bid/No Bid strategies/decisions
  • Improving get work efficiency and effectiveness by formulating lessons learned and best practices by conducting debrief meetings with clients, supply chain, project management and executives
  • Memorializing account and opportunity data in Kiewit CRM software including communication to pursuit teams and Kiewit leadership
  • Becoming and remaining continually informed on industry developments and the competitive landscape
  • Identifying and communicating competitor and market sector intelligence
Qualifications

5+ years' proven experience in engineering or construction related Business Development or Sales, in or across the following industries: Industrial, Power, or Mining

Must be able to travel at least 50% of time with overnight stays

Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction or business preferred

Located in Burnaby, BC, or willing to relocate

Prefer experience executing projects from an engineering or construction perspective either with companies that own the projects or contractors that provide services to owners

Prefer direct experience in industrial market sectors( mining and metals; pulp and paper; food and beverage; biogas; and /or water and wastewater)

Ability to demonstrate several strong current and relevant client relationships within the Industrial and Power Industries

Good working knowledge of industrial processes and project development lifecycle

Understanding of engineering and construction contract models and commercial terms

Strong understanding and commitment to CRM knowledge sharing through SAP or Salesforce
