Business Development Consultant (Edmonton, AB) - Thai Express
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Business Development Consultant is the primary point of contact for restaurants and is responsible for leading, supporting, and partnering with franchisees to develop and facilitate operations that drive results in their assigned locations.
The Business Development Consultant is accountable for financial and performance metrics within their territory, including sales, comparable sales, average check, EBITDA, customer experience program results, food safety, brand standards compliance, market consistency, and adherence to franchise agreements.
Customer Experience and Standards Compliance
Build and strengthen trust-based relationships with franchisees through operations focused visits to improve business outcomes
Conduct restaurant audits (both announced and unannounced), identify key issues, and develop action plans to resolve them within a reasonable timeframe
Prioritize customer experience in all issue management
Communicate brand standards and share resources to help franchisees and their teams strive for excellence
Protect the brand image and integrity
Act as a liaison between franchisees and management teams to communicate potential customer experience issues
Handle customer complaints according to brand standards, ensuring prompt resolution
Employee Development and Engagement
Train and support restaurant staff development to ensure optimal customer experience
Oversee training and effective execution, encouraging employee feedback to strengthen existing programs
Support franchisees in recruiting qualified talent that represents the brand well
Ensure franchisee participation in sales contests, limited-time promotions, menu launches, etc.
Host informative and training meetings with franchisees, both in-person and virtually
Sales Growth, Financials, and Restaurant Profitability
Collaborate with franchisees to develop local marketing plans by analyzing internal and external factors affecting sales
Work with the marketing department to share successful initiatives from your territory to benefit the network and boost sales
Achieve comparable store sales budgets and develop realistic financial plans
Set business and financial goals with franchisees, review financial statements, and suggest operational improvements to increase comparable sales or reduce costs
Conduct regular financial follow-ups to quickly identify opportunities and best practices to improve restaurant profitability
Willing to travel long distance by driving or to different provinces or overseas if needed
Training and Experience
Postsecondary education in business, hospitality, restaurant management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
3 years of experience in multi-unit restaurant supervision and/or management
Experience in budget management, forecasting, and strategic planning in a franchise
environment
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle; weekly travel required; must enjoy working on the road
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (an asset)
