Languages in Motion is seeking a

proactive, relationship-driven Business Development Representative (BDR)

to join our growing team. The successful candidate will identify, develop, and nurture new business opportunities while building and managing a defined book of business within assigned industries.
You will focus on establishing relationships with organizations in key sectors such as

insurance, medical, and legal

, as well as

government, NGOs, and social enterprises

, expanding LiM's reach as a trusted partner for professional translation and interpretation services.
This role requires a motivated communicator with a consultative approach to sales, strong business acumen, and a genuine desire to help clients overcome language barriers in their work.

Responsibilities

Industry Research & Lead Development



Conduct research to identify new opportunities within assigned industries and geographic markets. Develop and maintain a pipeline of qualified prospects through outreach, networking, and referrals. Build a strong understanding of industry challenges, operational processes, and language service needs specific to each sector. Use CRM tools to track all prospecting, client interactions, and pipeline activity accurately and consistently.

Client Relationship Management



Establish and maintain relationships with decision-makers and stakeholders across target industries. Conduct discovery meetings and needs assessments to identify where LiM's services can deliver the greatest value. Present LiM's interpretation, translation, and language technology solutions in a professional, consultative manner. Maintain a regular communication cadence with assigned clients to foster long-term partnerships and account growth. Collaborate with the

Sales Support & Customer Success team

to ensure smooth onboarding, training, and ongoing satisfaction for clients after acquisition.

Sales Execution & Growth



Own a defined book of business and drive consistent revenue growth within assigned verticals. Meet or exceed weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales goals, including outreach activity, new meetings booked, and closed business. Participate in RFP responses, proposals, and presentations as needed. Work with marketing to develop outreach campaigns, promotional materials, and industry-specific collateral. Track, analyze, and report on performance metrics to continuously improve sales effectiveness.

Collaboration & Strategy



Partner with internal operations and marketing teams to ensure alignment on client objectives and opportunities. Share market intelligence, trends, and competitive insights to inform strategic direction. Participate in team meetings, industry events, and client presentations to represent LiM professionally and effectively. Contribute ideas for new service offerings, pricing strategies, or operational improvements based on client feedback.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications



Post-secondary education in Business, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience). 2-5 years of experience in B2B sales, account management, or business development, preferably in

insurance, medical, or legal

industries. Demonstrated success in prospecting, pipeline management, and closing deals. Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. Excellent research and analytical abilities for understanding client needs and industry dynamics. Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., HubSpot) and Microsoft Office. Self-motivated and goal-oriented with a proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team. Clear and professional English communication; additional languages are an asset.

Preferred Attributes



Experience working with or selling to

corporate clients.

Public sector is an asset (healthcare, education, or government). Knowledge of or interest in

language services, SaaS, or communication technology

. Existing relationships or networks within one of the target verticals. Strong organizational and time management skills. Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable with change in a fast-paced environment.
