Business Development Applications Sales Engineer (Full-Time) - Montreal, QC



Primary Purpose




As a Food Applications Sales Engineer, you will maintain and grow Linde's Food Merchant Sales--Linde's largest sector--through the effective application of Linde's Food Technology portfolio; which includes customized freezer designs manufactured by Linde Canada, Linde U.S. freezer designs (Wooster OH), the International Freezer Pool (Europe), as well as additional non-freezing applications such as mixers, strippers, and modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) systems.


You will drive innovation by implementing new global Linde technologies and developments in the Canadian food industry, specifically across Ontario and Quebec. As the market and technologies continue to evolve, the role will adapt to incorporate new tools, equipment, and customer demands.

Key Accountabilities:



Establish and grow relationships with potential customers, industry consultants, and vendors in Ontario and Quebec Manage sales activities and identify customer needs within the region Develop and present application concepts and business cases tailored to Canadian customers Lead and coordinate campaigns and technical projects, including trials, demonstrations, and technology rollouts Prepare and execute experimental plans, including trial contracts, reports, and technical documentation Collaborate with global and local internal teams and external partners to ensure successful project delivery Provide expert advice during the introduction of new applications and technologies Offer after-sales support, including further development and training on application equipment Participate in international conferences and professional events, contributing to innovation and gaining market insights Maintain accurate records and reports in customer relationship management systems (e.g., Salesforce) Know and cooperate with internal business (sales, R&D, National BD, applications equipment, and customer service personnel). Utilize and leverage all available Linde resources to achieve goals

Required Qualifications



Education



University degree in Food Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Food Engineering preferred), preferably with a specialization in process engineering.

Experience



5+ years' experience, ideally in technical sales to the food industry in Canada (Ontario and Quebec preferred) Proven track record of acquiring and growing a customer base, being resilient, and driving results, as well as success in matrix-managed environments and cross-functional teams with a customer-focused approach Comfortable running "hands-on" testing and commissioning of new food equipment (cryogenic freezer, mixers, etc.) Familiarity with industrial gases applications in food freezing and chilling processes Technical/engineering savvy and value-building skills Well-developed commercial/business skills and advanced technical and problem-solving abilities Digital mindset with openness to emerging technologies, including AI-based tools and solutions Willingness to travel within Canada and internationally as required (up to 60%) Fluency in English and French Communication & Influence through excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and influence stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally Ability to lead through change and uncertainty while maintaining focus on outcomes
