As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the business clerk provides clerical, administrative and business support to patients, families and members of the healthcare team. Functions according to the job description for Business Clerks.
Qualifications
1. Graduate of community college secretarial or office administration program or equivalent office experience
2. Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2 or demonstrated knowledge equivalent to the Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2 acquired in a different Business Clerk position, which may be subject to testing
3. Demonstrated proficient keyboard skills (40 WPM)
4. Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office, Microsoft Works, Excel, Outlook/Exchange, PeopleSoft Time & Labour data entry
5. Mathematical skills related to payroll, budget and statistical documents
6. Demonstrated excellent communication (verbal and written), teamwork, time management, organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
7. Demonstrated initiative and ability to work well independently
8. Demonstrated ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively
9. Demonstrated ability to appreciate the confidential nature of the position
10. Ability to sit for long periods, repetitive reaching, repetitive bending
11. Current BCLS certification
12. Demonstrated attributes that contribute to a respectful caring environment
13. Demonstrated commitment to professional development
14. Demonstrated ability to interpret and consistently apply human resource policies and procedures and collective agreement language
15. Recent experience (within 2 years) in a business clerk role in an inpatient clinical setting
