Business Architect
to help design and align future-state business capabilities with cutting-edge technologies, ensuring a seamless, efficient, and secure service experience for Ontarians.
The Business Architect will play a critical role in the replacement and consolidation of legacy case management solutions. Working within a cross-functional service transformation team, the Architect will guide business design decisions, enable strategic alignment, and support the consolidation or retirement of outdated applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead business architecture efforts to support the transformation of vital event registration systems.
Analyze current business processes and propose optimized, scalable, and integrated future-state models.
Align architectural design with Ontario Public Service (OPS) standards, strategic goals, and enterprise IT systems.
Collaborate with Product Managers, IT Architects, Portfolio Managers, and government stakeholders to define, document, and validate business needs and solutions.
Develop and maintain business capability models and transformation roadmaps.
Design conceptual and logical data models and ensure vertical integration with IT and information architecture deliverables.
Contribute to governance processes including architectural reviews and compliance with AGP1 and GO-ITS standards.
Required Experience and Skills:
Business Architecture
IT experience
, including as a Business Architect on large, complex public sector or enterprise projects.
Proven expertise in completing business architecture engagements for core or enterprise-level initiatives.
Strong knowledge of business capability modeling, data modeling, and business transformation planning.
Business Architecture Design
Experience with business functional modeling, service lifecycle modeling, BPMN, value chain analysis, and KPI development.
Ability to translate business needs into architecture blueprints that inform solution and requirements design.
Familiarity with aligning business processes with service design and digital service standards.
Artifact Development
Creation of business architecture documentation (BAD) aligned with Solution Requirements Documents (SRDs) and Information Architecture Documents (IADs).
Ability to align OPS standards and best practices into business architecture artifacts.
Architecture Alignment
Experience aligning acquired solutions or services with existing IT product strategies.
Interpersonal & Communication Skills
Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, consensus-building, and facilitation skills.
Experience working with senior executives and multi-disciplinary teams.
Frameworks and Standards
Experience with
Zachman Framework
,
OPS Enterprise Architecture
, and
GO-ITS
standards.
Knowledge of AODA, Privacy, and Records Management principles as they apply to architecture.
Desirable Assets:
Experience working with Salesforce, DevOps environments, Miro Boards, and Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Visio).
Familiarity with service design lifecycle stages (Pre-Discovery, Discovery, Alpha, Beta, Live).
Experience developing epics, features, and user stories, and managing product backlogs.
Knowledge of enterprise modeling tools such as Sparx EA, PowerDesigner, and Orbus iServer.
Demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement and business architecture for acquired solutions.
