Job Description


:SUMMARYThe Business Analyst is responsible for the creation and preparation of financial and business models and reports, which are used to identify and develop value-creation opportunities in the delivery of projects to assist decision-makers in making well-informed business decisions.KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESModel Creation

  • Responsible for collating data and inputs to create a Business Case submission to the client for all projects
$250,000 which outlines the strategic benefits of the investment relative to their long-term office plan. Liaise with the Project Manager, the Consultant, the Property Manager, the Heritage Conservation Manager, the Capital Planning Manager, the Energy Managers, and the Planning & Costing team. Several iterations of the business case will be required for Project Approval and Expenditure Authority. * Creates financial models to determine the viability of options in project delivery using proven techniques like financial forecasting and NPV (IRR, Monte Carlo analysis, etc. as required) to help in the selection of options by decision-makers.
  • Creates business analysis models based on reliable market information and previous experience to identify opportunities and solutions for the projects.
  • Understanding of regulatory and financial requirements for the model's creation.
  • Capable of articulating the different scope assumptions within the business model.
Data Collection and Analysis
  • Generates and compiles data from multiple data sources (internal and external) using various business intelligence tools and information management systems.
  • Compiles, maintains, and analyzes a large volume of real estate portfolio data to support various reporting, benchmarking, and analytical requirements.
Reporting
  • Prepares various reports, including but not limited to performance reports and scorecard reports, to assist with business communication and decision-making.
  • Prepares the documentation that supports the output from the model and analysis to facilitate the decision-making process. This documentation may include but is not limited to benchmarking analysis, a list of assumptions, exclusions, constraints, and resource analysis.
  • Develops and maintains reporting and analytics dashboards using data analytics software (i.e., Power BI) to visualize strategic data, as required.
  • Develop and distribute key process metrics and information to internal customers.
  • Develop/deliver presentation documents.
System Support
  • Interact with relevant stakeholders to understand business process-related issues and facilitate innovative solutions to traditional problems.
Training
  • Train team members in correctly operating business tools, processes, and procedures.
EDUCATION, JOB-RELATED YEARS OF EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Good knowledge of financial analysis and financial decision-making.
  • Minimum 4 years relevant work experience with a university degree or professional certification (e.g., P. Eng, OAA, OAQ, PMP, CMA, CGA, AACE, or equivalent courses).
  • Ability to handle a large volume of information and accurately manage large datasets.
  • Very strong attention to detail.
  • Well-informed/experienced in Project Management process with Corporate Real Estate and construction-related projects - some experience with actual project delivery is an asset.
  • Strong data and financial analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Computer proficiency in relational databases, reporting tools, MS Office including MS Access and MS Excel, with the ability to learn new information management systems quickly, such as Power BI.
  • Very strong MS Excel skills, i.e., Macros, pivot tables, lookup tables, etc.
  • Power BI reporting and development.
  • Strong Communication Skills.
  • Self-Starter.
  • Bilingual (English/French) an asset.
