Position Description
------------------------
The Business Analyst- OR Performance and Analytics is accountable for supporting OR leadership and the clinical teams in interpreting, understanding and applying operational data. The primary objective of this role is to support the Operating Room in making best use of its clinical resources and enable the Hospital to serve an ever-growing volume of patient activity.
The Business Analyst is responsible for conducting key analysis and working collaboratively with OR leadership to implement new strategies and approaches to further minimize the inefficiency of OR time.
Here's what you'll get to do
• Conducts data analysis to support operational activity:
• Develops and maintains operational data sets such as optimal case length duration by surgeon.
• Conducts data validation to ensure accurate activity tracking for targeted populations.
• Supports analysis to optimize surgical time allocation to each surgical service.
• Develops forecasts for operational activity such as OR case volume or OR hours.
2. Supports ongoing assessment of operational performance:
• Supports ongoing delivery of monthly quality report, including updating key performance indicators.
• Conducts analysis to help identify root cause issues within OR Quality and Efficiency Indicators.
3. Supports surgical service and Hospital-based initiatives:
• Works as interface between clinicians and the information system team to support operational or clinical research data requests.
• Conducts analysis to support targeted Quality, Financial or Performance Improvement projects.
• Supports development of business cases for stakeholders including the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
Here's what you'll need
• Bachelor's degree program related to health science or business preferred, asset with graduate experience in a related program.
• Previous employment involving data analytics and/or management consulting.
• Strong planning, organizational, financial modeling and computer skills including superior knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, regression, vlookup(), if(), offset() and experience with larger database and reporting tools.
• Ability to communicate complex quantitative ideas to a non-technical audience.
• Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills, strong analytical, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to work under pressure and within tight timelines.
• Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
