Job Summary



A Brief Overview



The ERP Technology unit of the Information Technology Services department requires a PeopleSoft Business Analyst. This role will elicit business needs and requirements to support ongoing development, upgrades and new capabilities for the administrative systems which support the student experience from admissions to convocation and beyond. In this role, you will collaborate with university stakeholders and end-users to optimize business processes, and liaise with other business, system and programmer analysts to enhance student systems and create new opportunities for our clients.




As a member of the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions team, you have an eye for process improvements and recognized skill at implementing new business processes while assisting clients to adapt to process changes. You will use your research and analysis skills to bring value and understanding to process re-engineering efforts in an area that underpins current, prospective and graduating students' interaction with the University related to admissions, academics and finances. You will contribute to the success of a wide range of initiatives, from large-scale transformation to initiatives focused on specific client needs. Such initiatives include the digital transformation of manual administrative processes, implementation of new ERP (Peoplesoft) functionality, resolving production issues, government compliance assignments, and designing integrations with a myriad of student systems.



This position provides expertise to aid in the planning, design and development of technical resources. This position translates business requirements into an implementation plan with clients and members of the team. This position makes recommendations for solutions or improvements to business processes that can be accomplished through technology.

What you will do



Analyzes, edits, documents, and translates business and functional requirements. Conducts research and addresses information systems changes and business process improvements to meet current and future business requirements. Completes detailed system specifications for workflow, scripts, reports, interfaces, conversions, modifications, customizations or extensions. Recommends system and business process improvements on complex information system and business process issues. Performs detailed analysis of root problems for urgent production issues and data quality issues. Develops and maintains training deliverables for staff. Creates multi-level test scenarios. Develops queries and reports. Designs processes for data input. Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.


Required Education



Four-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent. In addition, requires trade certification, qualification, or on-going learning to remain ahead of changes in technology or emerging fields.


Required Experience



More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience. Experience working at a post-secondary education institution considered an asset. Experience in writing, interviewing, reviewing, editing and/or proofreading internal and/or external communications and documents considered an asset (e.g., social media, policy manuals, newsletters, handbooks, legal documents, forms/templates, blogs, training/reference materials, technical documents, webinars, etc.). Experience in developing and/or maintaining Enterprise Systems considered an asset. Experience working in a comparable client-focused environment considered an asset. Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Appropriately assesses risks before making a decision. Contribute to the creation and evaluation of possible solutions. Take action to remove obstacles and address problems before they impact performance and results.
