Overview

Our downtown client is a well established Oil and Gas producer. They are looking for a motivated intermediate to Senior Business Analyst to join their team.

This position will start on a contract basis and will have the potential for extensions on the contract or possibly evolve into a permanent position. This will be a long term position for the right fit and experience.

This role is unique as it requires knowledge and the desire to continue to learn and grow within both the financial and the operations functions within oil and gas. A great stepping stone type of position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial

Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements, including note disclosures; Assist in the preparation of quarterly & annual management discussion and analysis Prepare analysis and record journal entries for complex accounting areas including depletion, share based compensation, ceiling test analysis, analysis for impairment indicators, mark-to-market and realized gains or losses on financial derivatives, decommissioning obligations, capitalized G&A, etc.

Operations

Coordinate and support month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to timelines. Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, land, and finance teams to align accounting treatment with operational activities Ensure compliance with PASC, IFRS, and other applicable accounting standards and industry regulations. Assist with monthly internal reporting such as providing insights to budget variances and trending analysis.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required; CPA designation is required; A minimum of 5 years of financial and Operations Accounting experience preferred Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite; and Experience with QByte would be an asset. Must be capable of working with Field and head office Operations functional groups (Drilling/Completions/Facilities/PVR Team) Must be capable of working with other head office Depts (AP/Marketing/P Engs/Production Accounting/Financial Accounting) Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills are required

Pay: $70.00-$90.00 per hour
