Job Summary


Dalhousie Financial Services strives to provide the highest quality financial services and information to ensure the effective stewardship of University assets to the benefit of students and scholarly activities. Reporting to the Director, Financial Systems and Processes, the Business Analyst will be a key resource for analyzing business processes and process improvement initiatives within Financial Services. The Business Analyst will be assigned an area of focus within Financial Services. Working collaboratively with leaders across the organization, the incumbent will lead the implementation of approved recommendations based on thorough research and analysis, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives and stakeholder expectations.


Key Responsibilities


Analyze processes and implement improvements which make use of technology, eliminate redundant tasks, and/or minimize duplication of effort. Collaborate with key partners to review business processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement technology-driven solutions aligned with institutional goals. Facilitate workshops and stakeholder engagement to gather requirements, validate processes, and present actionable recommendations. Create and maintain process documentation, including detailed process maps, project timelines, and specifications to support transformation efforts. Liaise with other members of the Financial Services team to implement solutions when process review leads to the development of larger systems projects.



Note


The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.




Required Qualifications


Undergraduate degree in business, computer science, or related field, plus five years' progressive experience with financial processes and systems and process improvement (or equivalent combination of training and experience). Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of senior managers, and subject matter experts. Demonstrated experience with financial processes, systems, and internal controls. Experience with continuous improvement concepts including process mapping. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, including Project, Visio, Word, Excel, Outlook, Share Point and PowerPoint and web tools.
