It's a community-like atmosphere of support and flexibility where you can be your best self and enjoy limitless development and learning opportunities.The Technology Intake and Delivery team focusses on the strategic plan for technology delivery across ATCO, including business plan, regulatory submissions, project discovery and approvals. This requires an end to end understanding of business processes, system processes, and current pain points. We are currently recruiting two Business Analysts to join our team.Reporting to the Supervisor of Technology Intake, the Business Analyst will analyze business needs and support the creation of strategic short- and long-term plans for technological improvements and implementations. This position will work closely with stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. Project intake, prioritization, and planning will include regular stakeholder workshops to develop a strong understanding of the pressure points and priorities that will influence recommendations.Responsibilities:

  • Project Intake and Prioritization:
  • Understand technology needs across ATCO.
  • Intake project opportunities and assess benefits, strategic alignment and priority.
  • Support and refine short (1 year) and long term (7 year) technology roadmaps.
  • Define Project Scope:
  • Work with business to identify, understand and document business processes.
  • Prepare recommendations regarding project scope, schedule, estimate, and success metrics.
  • Understand business goals, objectives, and project value to effectively work with subject matter experts and business users to identify, document, and prioritize business requirements.
  • Collaborate with technical resources for inclusion and documentation of non-functional requirements.
  • Obtain Funding and Initiate Project:
  • Support business case development.
  • Initiate project landing page and support handoff to project teams.
  • Support Project Delivery:
  • Work with business and 3rd party experts to understand, assess and document the future state target operating model and business processes.
  • Understand the differences between current and future state to support business transformation.
  • Understand and validate proposed project solution against requirements.
  • Define and document use cases.
  • Support business testing of projects solution.
Qualifications and skills:
  • University degree or diploma in Engineering, Accounting, Commerce, Finance, Business, Science or Economics.
  • Certification or training in Business Analysis: CCBA/CBAP.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Business Analyst role with experience in strategic planning and project discovery.
  • Proven ability to interface with both IT and Business (office and field) personnel.
  • Must have Proficiency with Atlassian products (JIRA, Confluence), Microsoft Excel, and Word.
  • Proficiency with Process Modelling Software: iGrafx is considered an asset.
  • Experience working within technology project management and/or PMO.
  • Experience working in or with Alberta's regulated Utilities considered an asset.
  • Experience in ATCO's core applications, including Oracle products, Maximo, ESRI, GTech, Salesforce, SharePoint, are considered an asset.
  • Excellent written skills including business case writing, presentations, and regular updates tailored to the appropriate audience.
  • Excellent verbal communication and stakeholder facilitation skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with all levels of an organization to document current state, understand pain points, and gather detailed requirements.
  • Self-driven with a proactive, strategic focus.
