Job Description

Project Summary:

The client has undertaken the establishment of a Digital Built Environment product line to meet the needs of a growing technology stack and expertise requirement to realize a growing value proposition on existing and new use cases. As part of this establishment, there needs to be seamless delivery of the existing and new services.The Business Analyst will document and analyze the business and technical requirements and ensure they are reflected in the product and service offerings. This includes support of expertise in the areas of geomatics, geo-positioning, point cloud scanning, reality capture, and with expertise in software engineering, algorithm development and streaming existing datasets and formats into a visual gaming engine to interact with a precise digital twin experience.

Ensure precision of geo-spatial coordinates for digital asset types like Building Information Models and Point Cloud Laser Scans. Develop and collaborate on methods to stream specific datasets and data types into a Campus model environment. Contribute to strategy formulation applying open standards to discrete data sets and types. Provide regular (e.g., weekly) status updates to stakeholders. Develop and document clear statements of requirements for planned work. Perform detailed business analysis of functional requirements to uncover business rules, information needs, workflows, and processes. Evaluate existing procedures, documenting database content, structure, and application subsystems. Define and document interfaces connecting manual and automated operations within subsystems, external systems, and integrations between new and existing systems. Identify business processes suitable for redesign; prototype solutions; provide trade-off analyses; recommend optimal courses of action. Determine necessary modifications to automated processes to improve efficiency or alignment with goals. Establish acceptance criteria collaboratively with clients to ensure deliverable satisfaction. Support and adhere to established methodologies, including the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), throughout the project lifecycle.

Deliverables:



Review and assess current business practice for geolocation. Develop specifications and guidelines to support precise geolocation by digital asset type and use case. Compare current practice with industry best practices and provide recommendations. Perform fit/gap analysis to highlight risks and value, considering easy integration with market-relevant solutions/environments. Perform product testing and proof-of-concept initiatives to explore openBIM standards and solutions in real-world, relevant use cases. Develop scripts, algorithms, or methods to unify disparate data streams into a single interactive visual environment. Determine ROI, KPIs, and other performance measures related to using open standards to reduce technical debt, avoid proprietary lock-in, and improve data provenance and archival usage and the digital twin paradigm, including comparison to existing baseline values and outcomes. Determine and establish existing baseline values and outcomes for comparison purposes. Contribute to a Data Governance Framework and a Use Case Library for Digital Twin environments. Provide assessment documentation including clear recommendation outlines. Adapt business processes to align with the overall vision and strategy for delivering greater value. Manage deliverables efficiently, according to priorities and timelines. Support internal teams and resources involved in these activities. Assess and analyze optimal mechanisms for implementing specifications. Capture and review business and functional requirements via user stories, use case descriptions, and process flowcharts. Contribute to proof-of-concept workflows and rapid prototyping/delivery initiatives. Analyze global case studies and suggest relevant precedents for guidance.

Mandatory Qualifications:



Must have minimum of 5 years experience within the last 7 years working as a Business Analyst. Experience with Computer Programming. Experience with Reality Capture Technology and Geospatial Positioning. Experience with Calibration of Lidar, including Algorithms, Geo-Referencing, and low-level processing of data?. Experience with streaming Datasets and Geometry representations of built environment information into market-available solutions. Experience with Technical Interoperability (Data Schemas, Data Dictionaries, Semantic Web, Algorithm Development)?. Experience with openBIM and buildingSMART standards and solutions. Experience with optimizing workflows, process design and flow charting. Experience with piloting new technology. Strong technical skills in product and process development.

Additional Requirements:



Bilingual in English and French required. Located in the National Capital Region (Ottawa) and able to work a hybrid schedule required. Have a College Diploma or University Degree in an IT discipline or related required. Have a certification in business analysis considered an asset. Experience working in the Government/Public Sector industry considered an asset.
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 10 months

Pay: $20.28-$60.10 per hour

Expected hours: 7.25 per week
