Early intervention by the Business Advisor Special Accounts will ensure a lower risk loan portfolio through a responsive approach to addressing negative trends in our borrower\'s financial position. The Advisor will manage a portfolio of higher-risk business loans, many of which will fall into Innovation\xe2\x80\x99s Monitored Loan segment. The Indvidual\'s focus is on reducing the risk profile of the borrowing members they work with to benefit both the Credit Union and the Member. This role will enable the balance of our Advisor team to focus on performing relationships, while ensuring appropriate risk management is being executed on our higher risk business relationships.

The individual in this role is very well versed in all types of Ag and Commercial Credit, standard lending practices and sound Credit underwriting. Ability to effectively communicate, negotiate favorable outcomes and problem solve are key skills. Leveraging strong analytical skills and critical thinking while applying this to appropriate credit structure, collateral valuation and overall risk mitigation is paramount. The person in this role can successfully mentor and provide knowledge and insight to help develop the skillset of our Advisor team in the areas of problem accounts and risk management.

What will you do?
  • Monitor a portfolio of high-risk business loans and complex unresolved lending issues to mitigate risk exposure and potential losses.
  • Work closely with high-risk Ag and Commercial borrowing members to identify solutions to reduce their risk profile and related borrowing risk to Innovation CU.
  • Engage with external professionals as needed to effectively quantify and manage risk with a goal to minimize losses
  • Monitor Out of Order and Watch List reporting, trends in delinquency and overdraft reporting to support the early recognition and action on high risk trending accounts
  • Collaborate with Retail and Loss Prevention Teams to deliver appropriate action plans for higher risk borrowers.
  • Prepare quarterly Monitored Loan reports on Monitored borrowing relationships.
  • Complete periodic reviews, credit correspondence and underwriting memos on high-risk Ag and Commercial accounts.
  • Mentor and provide knowledge to Advisor staff on problem account resolution.
  • Manage early intervention on high-risk trending relationships to reduce overall loan losses.
  • Assess risk when making decisions, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Coach and mentor team members in the area of credit analysis and problem account management
  • Works collaboratively with Credit and Retail team with unified goals.
  • As an Agile organization, involvement in Agile project teams and/or utilizing an Agile mindset is encouraged to improve and grow our credit union.
  • Possess a Growth Mindset with respect to personal growth and development.
Some things that would impress us:
  • Post Secondary Education/Diploma in a related field
  • Minimum 5+ years Ag/Comm credit analysis and underwriting experience
  • Experience in risk analysis/mitigation and negotiation
  • The ability to relate well to members and coworkers
  • A passion for learning and growth
