Position Overview



The Business Administration Instructor plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, career-focused instruction to adult learners in a private career college setting. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education, student-centered, and adaptable to various learning styles. Instructors are responsible for preparing and delivering course content, assessing student progress, and contributing to a positive learning environment.


This role also ensures regulatory compliance under British Columbias Private Training Act and Private Training Regulation. The successful candidate will maintain required instructor documentation and support Granville Colleges ongoing accreditation and reporting obligations.

Key Responsibilities

Facilitate engaging in-person or virtual classes using active learning strategies such as case studies, group projects, and presentations. Track and evaluate student progress, providing timely feedback, academic support, and guidance to promote student success. Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records (attendance, grades, transcripts, assessments) in compliance with Granville College and BC Private Training Act standards. Submit and retain instructor qualification documentation (e.g., resumes, credentials, evidence of relevant industry and teaching experience) for regulatory compliance. Contribute to regular curriculum reviews to ensure program relevance, labor market alignment, and compliance with regulatory requirements (minimum every two years). Support Granville Colleges annual reporting requirements, including data collection and submissions related to graduation and job placement outcomes. Assist with compliance inspections, audits, or reporting as required, ensuring teaching practices and documentation meet BC Private Training Act obligations.

Qualifications & Compliance

Bachelors degree in Business Administration or a closely related field; a Masters degree is considered an asset. Minimum of 3 years of relevant business/industry experience and instructional experience, as required for Private Training Institution (PTI) instructor approval in BC. Demonstrated subject-matter expertise and effective teaching skills, ideally in a private career college or vocational training setting. Experience with curriculum development, instructional design, and/or adult education principles is preferred. Proficiency with digital tools and platforms to support online, blended, and in-person learning environments. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with a commitment to student-centered learning. Ability to maintain accurate records and meet all regulatory obligations under BCs Private Training Act and Private Training Regulation. A criminal record check (including vulnerable sector screening, if applicable) may be required in accordance with Granville College policy.
