Position Overview
As a Casual Bus Driver, you will play an important role in supporting children, families, and newcomer clients by providing safe and reliable transportation to and from YMCA programs, outings, and support services.
In this role, you will help create a positive and caring experience for everyone on board while ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and maintenance of the YMCA's mini-bus. You will represent the YMCA with professionalism and care, supporting our commitment to safe, welcoming, and inclusive programs.
This is a casual position with variable hours, including days, evenings, and weekends based on program needs.
Responsibilities

  • Safely transport children in After School, Day Camp, and Youth Programs, as well as newcomer clients attending YMCA programs and services
  • Follow all federal, provincial, local, and YMCA transportation policies and regulations
  • Conduct routine vehicle safety checks, track mileage, and report maintenance needs
  • Maintain bus cleanliness, sanitation, and overall condition
  • Follow New Brunswick Child Care Facility Standards and YMCA safety and abuse prevention practices
  • Ensure daily routines, documentation, and safety procedures are completed accurately and on time
  • Maintain confidentiality and a safe, respectful environment for all participants
  • Attend staff meetings as required
  • Adhere to YMCA policies, procedures, and values at all times
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license in good standing
  • Class 4 license, or willingness to obtain one
  • Medical certificate required for Class 4 licensing
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Organized, dependable, and safety-focused
  • Employment is contingent on the supply an acceptable Criminal Record Check from Police Department with a Vulnerable Sector Search as well as clearance from Department of Social Development.
