About the Role
We are currently seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Bus Driver and Early Childhood Educator. The ideal candidate will have prior experience driving a school or childcare bus and must hold a valid Class 1 or 2 driver's license with an "S" endorsement. In addition, possessing a Level 1, 2, or 3 Alberta Child Care Certification is considered a strong asset. This dual role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with children and is passionate about ensuring their safety and well-being both in transit and in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Driving groups of children to and from school throughout the day.
Supervising during pick-ups and drop-offs.
Actively engaging with and supervising school age children during field trips and at the centre.
Provide leave coverage and assistance for educators while on break, or when additional help is required.
Actively supervising and engaging with children of all ages at the centre, while ensuring their well-being.
Cultivating positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
Adhering to Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Regulations and Active Start's policies and procedures to ensure quality care.
Qualifications
A Class 1 or 2 driver's license with an "S" endorsement to drive the bus Clean driver's abstract
Prior childcare/daycare experience is required
Level 1, 2 or 3 Child Care Certification (or willing to obtain)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Professional, adaptable, and fluent in English
Knowledge of Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulations (preferred)
