Together, we are delivering Accelerator, a major program of Pearson LIFT (Long-term Investment in Facilities and Terminals), Toronto Pearson's infrastructure development plan. This multi-year program is designed to address immediate passenger growth demands while preparing Canada's largest airport for the future of air travel--including critical upgrades to airfield and infrastructure, greenhouse gas reduction initiatives, modernization of Terminals 1 and 3, and the creation of a world-class passenger experience.
JOB SUMMARY
The Building Systems Lead is responsible for leading the design coordination, integration, and delivery of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, ICT and building automation systems for the Interim Terminal Sub-Program. This role ensures that all building systems are designed, procured, and installed in accordance with GTAA requirements, codes, and airport operational constraints.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and coordinate all Building Systems activities across the Interim Terminal Sub-Program.
Oversee system integration for HVAC, electrical, controls, and life-safety systems in coordination with the design team and GTAA.
Review design deliverables for constructability, maintainability, and compliance with GTAA standards and project specifications.
Coordinate with other Sub-Program Teams including on the Clean Heat Plant, PV, and EV charging interfaces.
Support the design and construction of the Interim Terminal and other vertical facilities, ensuring consistency in system architecture.
Manage subcontractor and supplier engagement for major building systems.
Participate in design reviews, commissioning planning, and turnover documentation.
Support field installation quality assurance.
Lead testing, and commissioning activities for Building Systems.
Ensure documentation of as-built systems, O&M manuals, and integration with GTAA's Building Management System (BMS).
Identify design and construction risks related to building systems and propose mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with commercial, design, and construction teams to maintain cost and schedule alignment.
WORK CONDITIONS
The position will be based at our offices in Mississauga, Ontario, with regular visits to the site offices as required. This position is 5 days per week with core hours of work between approximately 8:00am-5:00pm with 1 hour lunch or as agreed upon with your manager. All employees must complete a RAIC and Criminal background check.
DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES
Degree or diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Eng. or eligibility preferred.
Minimum 10 years' experience in design and construction of building systems on large, complex industrial, transportation, or aviation projects.
Proven experience in mechanical/electrical coordination, construction and commissioning.
Strong understanding of BAS, HVAC, ICT and fire protection systems.
Familiarity with airport operational environments and regulatory requirements.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
