District School Board Ontario North East Building Supervisor (Southern Region) Required as soon as possible Comp. 23-198 Reporting to the Manager of Building Services, the Building Supervisor will be responsible for various portfolios including operations, maintenance, and construction for the southern region schools of the Board. This is accomplished by ensuring that the limited time available for cleaning is used efficiently; prioritizing and directing maintenance projects; and reviewing and reporting contractual work done on building construction projects. Duties and Responsibilities: - Work with staff including principals, custodial and maintenance staff to ensure cleaning and maintenance needs are being met. - Supervise custodial and maintenance staff by conducting performance evaluations, approving timesheets and leave requests and providing support. - Direct maintenance work orders and procurement of materials; liaise with service providers, suppliers, and inspectors. - Develop, deliver, and monitor programs for facility operations and maintenance support. - Determine priorities for the enhancement, repair and modification of building facilities and equipment based on end-of-life, legislation, and/or program changes. - Develop project scope for consultants and contractors including assistance in the preparation of contract specifications, tenders, and procurement documentation. - Monitor and document progress of construction projects. - Monitor expenditures and ensure adherence to budgets - Deal with health and safety issues - Provide research as requested and participate in the development and planning of policies, programs and procedures relating to Building Services. - Document and monitor information in the database (eBase) for facility operations, assets, maintenance, and capital construction. - Other duties as assigned Requirements: - Successful completion of a post-secondary program related to the field of architecture, engineering technology, building construction or facility management. Experience and formal training and education in related fields in an institutional setting may substitute for stipulated academic requirements. - Minimum five (5) years experience in a facilities environment or environment directly related to specified duties and responsibilities. - Extensive knowledge of building construction management and maintenance and facility infrastructure issues as well as familiarity with the Building, Electrical and Fire Codes, Accessibility standards, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in dealing effectively with internal and external stakeholders. - Excellent time management, problem solving, data management and organizational skills. - Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), AutoCAD, computerized maintenance management systems, electronic mail with the ability to learn new and specialized software and web-based applications. - Availability to work extended hours to meet deadlines, accommodate travel to various sites, and deal with maintenance or security issues at night or on weekends. - Prior school board or other public sector experience is considered an asset. - A related professional designation or membership in OACETT or PEMAC are considered assets. - Valid Ontario Class G Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License; Current and clear Criminal Background Check APPLICANTS MUST APPLY DIRECTLY THROUGH OUR COMPANY WEBSITE IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSTION.
