About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Structural Technologist with a strong Revit / BIM background to join our structural building engineering team in Kanata, Ontario. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our structural design group, contributing to the development and coordination of high-quality building models and construction documents across a variety of projects.

This role is ideal for a technologist who is highly proficient in Revit-based structural modeling, enjoys working in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary BIM environment, and has a solid understanding of Canadian building practices.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain Revit-based structural models and construction documents for building projects Produce detailed structural drawings for steel, reinforced concrete, wood, and masonry systems Collaborate closely with structural engineers during design development and document production Participate in multi-disciplinary BIM coordination, clash detection, and model reviews Ensure all drawings and models comply with Ontario Building Code (OBC), CSA standards, and project requirements Coordinate structural designs with architects, mechanical, and electrical teams Review shop drawings and assist with RFIs and construction-phase support Maintain Revit standards, families, and project documentation in accordance with company BIM protocols Attend project meetings and support ongoing project coordination

Qualifications & Experience

Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a related discipline Minimum 5 years of experience as a Structural Technologist in building engineering Advanced proficiency in Revit (Structural) in a production environment Strong understanding of BIM workflows, model coordination, and drawing extraction Solid knowledge of Canadian building codes and standards, including OBC Experience with steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structural systems Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams

Assets

Experience working in a fully integrated BIM environment Familiarity with Revit families, templates, and standards management OACETT membership or eligibility Exposure to Navisworks or BIM coordination tools Construction administration experience
