Job Summary:



We are seeking a Building Science Technologist with expertise in reserve fund studies, building envelope assessments, and forensic investigations. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in evaluating building systems, estimating repair/replacement costs, and delivering comprehensive reports for strata properties. Fieldwork and collaboration with stakeholders will be key components of this role.

Key Responsibilities:



Prepare comprehensive depreciation reports, including:

Detailed component inventories and condition assessments. Cost estimates for short- and long-term repairs/replacements. Cash flow projections and funding strategies.
Conduct field inspections and assessments of building envelopes (roofs, walls, windows, foundations).

Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications for remediation/retrofit projects.

Provide building envelope design reviews for architectural drawings/specifications and collaborate with clients, engineers, and architects on new construction projects.

Review construction documents for compliance with building codes and best practices.

Assist in project management, including site coordination and client communication.

Conduct field performance testing such window water tests, air leakage tests.

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor of Applied Science/Engineering. Master's degree in Building Science preferred.

Be registered or eligible for registration as an engineer-in-training (EIT) with EGBC.

2+ years of experience in:

Depreciation reports/reserve fund studies. Building envelope consulting in new and existing construction.
Familiar with ASHARE, BC Building Code, NECB, RCABC and other relevant standards.

Proficiency with AutoCAD and MS Office.

Experience in energy modelling software such as HOT2000 and eQUEST is an advantage.

Ability to multitask and adapt to shifting priorities.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills for reports and client interactions.

Ability to travel and work at heights.

Valid British Columbia Driver's Licence and access to personal vehicle (work related travel expenses will be compensated).

Additional pay:



Performance-based bonus program

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $50,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
