Summary



We are seeking a Building Operator to join our dynamic team in Toronto. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of our commercial properties, contributing to our mission of delivering exceptional property management services.

Key Responsibilities



Conduct daily property inspections and monitor building systems, equipment, and common areas to ensure proper operation and safety. Perform start-up/shutdown of building systems and equipment as required or directed by management. Assist with supervision of contractors and trades on-site, ensuring quality control of completed work. Support tenant services including move-in/move-out inspections, responding to service requests, and troubleshooting building issues. Carry out routine maintenance tasks such as: Minor plumbing repairs (faucet replacements, clearing drains, toilet repairs, etc.). Minor electrical repairs (resetting breakers, replacing light fixtures, bulbs, and ballasts). General maintenance (filter changes, belt replacements, lubrication, ceiling tile replacement, minor drywall repairs, painting). Respond promptly to emergency situations (floods, power outages, equipment failures, etc.) and follow proper incident reporting procedures. Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection logs, and inventory of supplies/tools. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements, including fire safety systems, WHMIS, and workplace health and safety standards. Prepare reports and provide input on building operations, capital improvements, and energy-saving initiatives. Complete other tasks as needed by management.

Qualifications & Skills



Minimum 3-5 years of experience in building operations, facilities management, or a related trade. Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work independently. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to respond effectively in emergency situations. Strong communication and customer service skills when interacting with tenants, contractors, and management. Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) considered an asset. Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation (if role requires multi-site coverage). Certification in Building Operator (e.g., BES, SMT, or equivalent) preferred but not required.

Working Conditions



Full-time role; may require occasional on-call availability for emergencies. Work performed both indoors (mechanical/electrical rooms, offices) and outdoors (grounds, rooftop). May involve lifting, carrying, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces. Will involve going to different sites and managing multiple buildings in the downtown core

Pay: $42,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
