What this job involves:



Join JLL's dynamic building operations team in downtown Ottawa as a Building Operator, where you'll play a critical role in delivering exceptional tenant experiences through the safe, efficient, and sustainable operation of state-of-the-art commercial properties.



You'll leverage cutting-edge building technologies and your technical expertise in building maintenance to optimize building performance while contributing to ESG initiatives and operational excellence standards.



This is an on-site role, Monday - Friday and all operators participate in on-call rotation.



What your day-to-day will look like:



Operate and maintain building systems including central plant equipment, HVAC, electrical infrastructure, and life safety systems while monitoring performance through computerized Building Management Systems (BMS)



Execute preventative maintenance programs to ensure equipment operates at optimum efficiency and establish new maintenance protocols as needed



Manage water treatment systems through testing, analysis, and chemical feed adjustments to maintain proper system levels



Respond to tenant service requests within established timeframes while delivering professional, courteous service



Coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure timely completion of repairs, services, and building improvement projects



Monitor energy consumption and support sustainability initiatives including waste reduction, water conservation, and carbon footprint reduction



Provide 24/7 emergency response coverage for multiple properties, executing emergency procedures for fire, life safety, and building system failures



Maintain safety compliance with OSHA and local regulations, including current knowledge of lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and all safety protocols



Participate in cross-training programs across portfolio properties and provide coverage during staff absences or peak periods



Required Qualifications

5+ years of commercial building operations and maintenance experience



Proficiency with computerized Building Management Systems and knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and energy management principles



Strong verbal and written communication skills



Ability to interact professionally with tenants, contractors, and team members



Problem-solving skills with attention to detail



Customer service orientation with focus on tenant satisfaction



Preferred Qualifications:



Building Environmental Systems Operator Certificate Class 1 & 2 preferred



Trades or technical college certification preferred



Bi-lingual (English/French) is an asset
