Our client is a fully integrated Canadian real estate management company. They handle multiple branches within property management and development. They have seasoned management and aim to foster a collaborative environment.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a role for someone who may call themselves a jack of all trades or all-around handy! You would be working in a large indoor retail space and have the opportunity to work under knowledgeable property management and mechanical professionals.

ABOUT THE POSITION

This is a building operator position that will be stationed in an indoor retail space in New Westminister, BC. You would be working Monday to Friday 8-hour shifts. This role provides the opportunity to grow and add value to the site in mind. You would be reporting to the manager of property management and the manager of mechanical systems. You would be working closely with another building operator.

Some duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain, test, adjust and repair basic repairs to mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Assist with handyman duties such as repair and maintenance to door/window hardware and wall repairs/painting.
  • Responds to emergencies as dispatched and directed by Supervisor and/or Property Manager.
  • Conducted investigations into building operations issues and assigned property inspections.
  • Prioritize and coordinate basic maintenance activities to meet the needs of the tenants and clients.
  • Complete reports, and statistics, and maintain records of activities for review by the Supervisor and/or Property Manager including monthly utility meter readingsAssist Supervisor, as needed, in the completion of the project\xe2\x80\x99s maintenance requirements.
  • Conduct routine custodial building operations and service activities that are standardized and repetitive.
  • Report problem areas to Supervisor and/or Property Manager.
  • Complete standard records of work performed, including checklists.
  • Greet Tenants and Suppliers and develop courteous relationships.
  • Establish working relationships with other building operations staff to understand the process for delivering excellent service to Tenants.
  • Operate equipment and tools required to complete assigned tasks.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy environment in mechanical and electrical rooms.
  • Identify unusual incidents or situations and promptly report them to Supervisor and/or Property Manager.
  • Utilize Strathallen\xe2\x80\x99s operational programs (i.e., Building Engines).
  • Perform special assignments and any other duties as required.
THE REQUIREMENTS
  • 1 \xe2\x80\x93 3 years related maintenance (Building Operator) experience.
  • Not looking for any power engineering background or further pursuance of.
  • Previous work experience in security systems, parking, janitorial/custodial services, and grounds keeping an asset.
  • Ability to work on a ladder and work with a lift after licensing.
  • Available to work rotating shifts, including weekends and evenings if needed
  • Rotational call-out requirement to carry a work phone to be on call for emergencies.
  • Baseline knowledge of mechanical or electrical systems or a willingness to further skills in this area is an asset.
COMPENSATION
  • $50,000 to $55,000 per annum
  • 3 weeks of vacation
