What this job involves:



JLL is hiring a Building Operator to join the Facility Management Team on one of it's key accounts in Cambridge. The Building Operator will be responsible for overseeing the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems and infrastructure as well as maintaining accurate records and reports.



Travel between Cambridge and Toronto locations is required, and a valid Ontario Class G driver's license is mandatory.



What your day-to-day will look like:



HVAC & Building Systems Maintenance

Operate, monitor, and maintain HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, air-handling units, and cooling towers.



Perform routine inspections and in-house preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.



Troubleshoot HVAC issues and building automation systems (BAS).



Preventive Maintenance

Maintain and update preventive maintenance schedules and logs.



Oversee and manage vendors according to preventive maintenance program.



Ensure compliance with safety codes and regulations.



General Building Repairs

Conduct minor repairs to doors, walls, ceilings, floors, and fixtures.



Perform plumbing repairs not required by a licensed tradesperson.



Maintain building aesthetics and ensure safety compliance.



Support seasonal landscaping tasks such as lawn care, snow removal, and garden maintenance as needed in between scheduled services provided by third-party vendors.



Furniture & Event Setup

Assist with the setup and teardown of furniture and equipment for meetings, events, and relocations.



Ensure proper storage and handling of furniture and supplies.



Vendor Management

Coordinate and oversee contractors and service providers for all maintenance and projects.



Ensure work is completed to standards and within timelines.



Maintain records of vendor activities and service agreements.



Other Duties

Respond to emergency situations including equipment failures and building alarms.



Perform on-call duties on rotating shift schedule.



Maintain a clean and safe working environment.



Safety Compliance

Follow all health and safety regulations and company policies.



Participate in safety training and emergency response drills.



Ensure proper use of PPE and safe handling of tools and equipment.



Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.



Prepare reports for management on building conditions, completed work, and outstanding issues.



Use facility management software to track work orders and asset performance.



Required Qualifications:



1-3 years of experience in building operations or facilities maintenance.



Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and BAS.



Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License.



Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work safely at heights.



Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals.



Strong communication and interpersonal skills.



Ability to work independently and as part of a team.



Flexibility to work varied shifts and be on call.



Preferred Qualifications:



Post-secondary technical training in building systems preferred.
