Job Description

We are a facility/property management company located in Calgary searching for a Building Operator who will be responsible for the operation and maintenance functions within our managed facilities. The majority of the Building Operator's time will be spent at educational facilities (90%) and the remainder will be spent at commercial facilities (10%). The Building Operator will perform a wide variety of maintenance, repair, minor alterations, and service functions. The ability to evaluate a wide variety of issues and problem solve to provide solutions is a must. The Building Operator must also be personable, professional, and have excellent customer service skills as they will interface with a broad range of stakeholders.

Knowledge & Skills:



Minimum of 2 years of experience in facility maintenance Minimum 5th class Power Engineering Certificate Sound knowledge of processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance, some of which include plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and building automation systems Critical thinking skills are a must to solve problems and deal with emergencies Attention to detail is critical Must adhere to Health and Safety policies including wearing required PPE Must own and provide basic hand tools Must have own vehicle and a valid driver's license with a clean record Certified in the use of Aerial Lift equipment is an asset Ability to manage time, follow through, and complete overlapping projects Ability to communicate clearly via email and use computer programs/software

Duties include but are not limited to:



Receive day to day direction from the Senior Building Operator while reporting to head office. HVAC maintenance/repair on the following equipment: AHU's, MUA's, boilers, furnaces, compressors, VAV's/airboxes and pneumatic thermostats Plumbing maintenance/repair on: pumps, taps/faucets, toilets, urinals, and water fountains Electrical maintenance/repair: light bulbs, emergency lighting General maintenance/repair: drywall patching, exterior/interior painting/staining, door adjustments (locks, handles, strikes, closers, weather stripping), light carpentry and caulking Facility checks: mechanical/automation checks, building walk-throughs, and data recording Travel between different facilities Respond to routine and on-demand service requests and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on facility mechanical equipment and other systems Manage work orders that are assigned Keep well-maintained maintenance logs and prepare daily reports

Work environment:



Working hours are Monday to Friday 7:00AM to 3:30PM. Wage commensurate with experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will need to provide a criminal record check.
