Schedule:
Full Time
4 days on/4 days off rotation, 10:00 am - 8:00 pm

The YMCA of Brandon is a charity that has been part of our community since 1886. We have recently expanded our facility to accommodate a growing need in our area.

Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities, the Building Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring the optimal operation and maintenance of the Dood Cristall Family YMCA facility and its equipment. This hands-on position is responsible for executing a comprehensive preventative maintenance and repair program, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all members and staff.

This role will work a 4 days on and for days off schedule with the Lead building operator, working some stat holidays, call outs and overtime as required. The ability to maintain positivity and manage priorities in a dynamic, high-traffic environment is essential to providing a safe, engaging and supportive experience for staff and members alike.

Major Responsibilities and Abilities include:

• Preventative Maintenance: Develop and implement a robust preventative maintenance schedule for all facilities and equipment. Ensure compliance with maintenance standards and regulatory requirements.
• Repairs and Troubleshooting: Conduct regular inspections to identify and address maintenance needs promptly. Oversee repairs for HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and general facility upkeep.
• Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and procedures. Conduct regular safety audits and ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations.
• Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment. Ensure timely ordering and stocking of necessary materials to facilitate smooth operations.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure facility readiness for events and programs. Respond to urgent maintenance requests in a timely manner.
• Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections. Prepare reports as required by the Director.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in facilities maintenance, with a focus on preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Knowledge of and aptitude in Mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting and HVAC systems.
• Experience in repair and maintenance of fitness equipment an asset.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in facility maintenance.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Pool Operator's license is required. (Will train)
• Emergency First Aid
• Current Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry checks.
