As a part of the maintenance team this role is responsible for continued building operations and will include troubleshooting all systems, preventative maintenance and day to day operational duties. The YWCA Program Centre facilities include; YWCA Fitness Centre, Leslie Diamond Childcare Centre, Meeting Rooms and Administration. This position will cooperate with all departments to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction. The Building Operator 2 reports to the Facilities Manager. What you\xe2\x80\x99ll be doing:
  • Operation of aquatic area systems including pool, hot tub, steam room, water testing
  • Building and building systems troubleshooting, repair and maintenance
  • All minor Electrical, Plumbing, DDC and HVAC work plus assisting with equipment change-outs
  • Perform assigned duties to ensure the facility and amenities are in best operable function and appearance
  • Maintain daily logs, assisting with the development of Operational/Repair Procedures, and other duties as required
  • Daily building inspections
  • Support contractors as required
  • Able to work early morning, late night and weekends
  • Part of the Emergency Building Response Team
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll need:
  • A minimum of 3-5 years experience and skills in building maintenance, minor electrical, plumbing, HVAC repairs, and custodial work
  • Power Engineering Class 5 or equivalent with proficiency on Building Automated DDC Systems
  • Pool Operator 1 minimum
  • In addition, demonstrated good customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing are essential
  • A valid clear criminal record check (including working with vulnerable populations) is required.
  • The YWCA Metro Vancouver\xe2\x80\x99s COVID-19 vaccination policy is currently suspended and as a result, vaccination from COVID-19 is not required at this time. However, should circumstances change and the YWCA deem it necessary to reintroduce such policy, you may be required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 in order to be eligible to continue performing your duties.
The successful candidate will be required to be available for all shifts, including weekends. This is an IUOE position.
