Building Maintenance Technician



Full-time, Permanent (40 hours/week)

Monday to Friday - 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with on-call duties

Salary Range: $18 to $24 per hour + full benefits

About the position:



The role of Maintenance Technician will contribute to a variety of day-to-day tasks related to building and mechanical operations and occasional custodial tasks within our multi-family residential and commercial portfolio. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and detail-oriented. You will work independently and effectively as a team member in a fast-paced environment, where customer service is of primary importance. Respect and professional attitude will be key to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:



Complete work orders assigned in a timely manner. Examples of common repairs include basic plumbing and electrical, appliances, heating & A/C, patching & painting, doors & windows, cabinets & various fixtures Perform daily checks of the property and complete scheduled preventive maintenance Maintaining exterior building cleanliness including seasonal grounds maintenance (including snow clearing of sidewalks, stairs and parking lot/driveway) as required Respond to day-to-day maintenance requests in a timely manner Prepare vacant suites as needed; patch, paint, basic carpentry, repairs and maintenance Interact with tenants, site staff and contractors in a professional and respectful manner Supervise contractors during scheduled repairs and inspection Assist with tenant move-in, pre-move out and move-out condition reports and follow up with any discrepancies as required Perform general preventative maintenance on equipment and assist other Maintenance Technician or Building Superintendent with unscheduled repairs Coordinate with the Facility Manager, Maintenance Coordinator, and other site staff to plan and prioritize work Identify deficiencies on new construction buildings, and coordinating with trades for warranty repairs Detecting faulty operations, defective materials and reporting deficiencies Monitor inventory of supplies/tools/equipment and move them as necessary Flexible in providing back up coverage at all properties as the need arises Manage trash & recycling removal Clean-up of work areas after job completion to satisfactory condition (i.e. dust/vacuum) On call rotation for after hour emergency, assigned in one (1) week rotation cycles Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:



Two years of related maintenance experience is required 5th class Power Engineer would be considered an asset Knowledge of building systems would be an asset Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills Commitment to providing outstanding customer service Organized with good communication skills Must be physically able to lift, push, and/or pull a minimum of 50 lbs., ability to climb ladders, twist, kneel, crouch, shovel, walk, and work outdoors in all weather conditions Ability to use a mobile internet device or smartphone for texting and emailing Computer skills Valid driver's license Clear Criminal Record Check
