As the Building Maintenance Lead, your responsibilities will include maintaining the functionality and safety of the facility, performing regular inspections, executing general repairs, and managing preventative maintenance. You will also supervise external contractors, monitor key systems like HVAC and fire prevention, and ensure that all operations are aligned with quality, safety and compliance standards.
More about your responsibilities:

  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure that the facility is compliant with all Health and Safety regulations, the Occupational Health and Safety (OHSA), and Environmental Management System standards, promoting a safe working environment.
  • Building Inspections: Perform daily inspections of plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, and structural elements to identify and address issues before they disrupt operations.
  • Hands-On Repairs: Handle general maintenance and repair tasks, including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC work.
  • Emergency Maintenance: Respond quickly to emergency service calls, addressing critical issues and minimizing downtime to ensure the building remains operational.
  • Facility Upkeep: Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of common areas, exterior grounds, parking lots, and sidewalks, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for all employees and visitors.
  • Contractor Management: Supervise and coordinate external contractors for major repair projects, ensuring high standards of work and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Fire & Pest Control: Oversee the management of fire prevention systems and coordinate pest control efforts to maintain a safe environment.
  • Manage Supplies and Equipment: Keep an accurate inventory of tools and maintenance suppliesxe2x80x94order replacements as needed to stay prepared.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Monitor building operations to meet all applicable codes, regulations, and internal standards.
  • Support Budget and Sustainability: Assist in tracking maintenance costs and contribute ideas for sustainability and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Follow Quality Protocols: Work in alignment with the JHG Quality Management System to maintain GMP compliance.
What youll bring

  • 3+ years of experience in building maintenance or a related field.
  • Technical certification in HVAC, electrical, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong hands-on skills and proficiency with tools and maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to maintain positive, professional, and strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and multitasking skills.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and health and safety practices and regulations.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including on-call shifts.
  • Valid drivers licence with a safe driving record.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in diverse weather conditions.
  • Experience within a pharmaceutical or food environment.
  • Understanding/familiarity of cGMP
  • Experience within a regulated environment packaging/food/pharmaceutical (FDA, Health Canada).
