Position Overview

We are looking for a motivated junior technician or engineer to join our building commissioning team in the Ottawa-Gatineau region. The selected candidate will contribute to the verification, testing, start-up, and optimization of mechanical and electromechanical systems in commercial, institutional, and multi-residential buildings.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for a young professional to build strong technical expertise in HVAC systems, controls, energy efficiency, and overall building performance.



Key Responsibilities

Participate in commissioning (Cx) activities: system verification, functional testing, performance validation. Conduct on-site inspections, collect data, document observations, and prepare reports. Collaborate with design teams, contractors, and building operators to identify issues and recommend solutions. Review plans, specifications, and sequences of operation (SOO) to ensure compliance of mechanical and control systems. Assist with the review of technical documentation (submittals, O&M manuals, shop drawings). Use measurement tools (flow meters, temperature probes, data loggers, etc.) for field testing. Support the start-up of HVAC, plumbing, control systems, and other building systems. Prepare commissioning reports and contribute to ongoing improvement of internal processes.

Candidate Profile

Technical Skills

Education in building mechanical systems or a related field

(mechanical engineering technology, building engineering, mechanical engineering, electromechanical engineering, etc.).

Basic knowledge of: HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) Plumbing and hydronic systems Controls and automation (DDC, BAS) Electrical systems (an asset) Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications. Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with commissioning software/tools is an asset.

Soft Skills

Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail. High motivation to learn and grow in a technical environment. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work both independently and within a team. Professional, reliable, and solution-oriented attitude.

Languages

Bilingual English/French (spoken and written) - required to communicate with clients, contractors, and consultants across the Ottawa-Gatineau region.

Requirements

College or university degree in building mechanical systems or a related field. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Ottawa-Gatineau region. Eligibility to work in Canada. Any internship or work experience in HVAC, commissioning, controls, or building mechanical systems is an asset.
