About the job



We are looking to expand our Vancouver team by adding a skilled Junior/Intermediate Building Code Consultant who can review, develop and document approaches to building code compliance in Fire Protection and Life Safety Building Code reports.

As a Fire Protection and Life Safety Building Code Consultant, you will review drawings, reports and conduct other research to identify building code issues and develop approaches to demonstrate compliance - including performance-based approaches - and then document them in Fire Protection and Life Safety Building Code reports and code compliance drawings. You will also attend project meetings, conduct site visits and field reviews, and assist on Certified Professional and other projects.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Schedule: Monday to Friday with flexible working hours

Requirements



Bachelor's degree or diploma in Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent experience in related field (Architectural Technology, Structural, etc.) 2+ years of experience in a Consulting Firm specializing in Building Code Compliance Review or as a Plan Checker / Building Technologist with Municipalities Current knowledge of British Columbia Building Code (BCBC) Part 3 Experience in engaging with AEC project team and leading design, specification, approvals, and construction administration Experience in developing and enhancing working relationships with clients and industry professionals Excellent oral and written communication skills Exceptional time management and organizational skills Good interpersonal, client-relations skills. Ability to work independently and as a team player, driven by a desire to make better buildings Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with integrity Ability to travel; must possess valid driver's license - mileage expense will be reimbursed
