Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Manager in the Courtenay office, the successful Bridge/ Civil Engineer will be involved in bridge and related civil engineering projects and will possess a strong background working with a motivated and dynamic team of professionals. Successful applicants will participate in the provision of engineering services from proposal stage through inspections, planning, design, construction, and commissioning of projects. Applicants should note that field work is an integral part of this position, and they should be prepared to periodically work in adverse environments and conditions.

Major Job Functions:

• Conducting close-proximity bridge inspections.
• Preparing reports and cost estimates.
• Structural and general arrangement crossing designs.
• Preparing and/or coordinating preparing engineering drawings
• Surveying and/or assisting with surveys (total station and GPS)
• Construction layout, reviews, and coordination
• Project management and contract administration

• Flexibility, organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, work accuracy/numeracy and quality orientated.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships across all levels of the business.
• Motivated and dynamic self-starter
• Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
• Effective problem-solver with strong analytical skills.
• A committed and positive attitude along with an obvious customer focus and the ability to build a positive rapport with customers.

• Degree in Civil Engineering
• Registered as a P.Eng., or EIT designation registered with EGBC.
• Minimum of 5 years of Bridge Engineering experience is preferred.
• Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and/or C3D an asset.
